LNJ is an old lakorn I watched and dropped in 2013 (ranted a bit in my 2013 lakorn list), but picked up again a few months later. I ranted (again) in my written journal after I finished it, and whilst flipping through it last weekend, I thought why not re-produce that in full here for fun? Haa, here’s my uncensored self, so fans of LNJ/ch7 might want to look away ‘cos this was definitely a lakorn I hate-watched. I write in a mix of English/Chinese so I’ve left that in too, translations added. Continue reading

Leh Ratree 2015

lr2015

meep, I’ve been prompted to peek out from my drama blogging hibernating hole by P’Fia’s recent post on Leh Ratree 2015, which was the last lakorn I finished and enjoyed but I didn’t feel compelled enough to blog about it back then besides a short fangirly post for Jes/Gypsy who played the 2nd leads. I have not been showing up online in part due to real life stuff plus I simply have not been watching that many dramas to write about, and also I started to think that there are already so many varied and wonderful voices on the drama blogosphere that what does it matter if I do an additional post or not? As I draft this post meant for the internet audience (as oppose to jotting down my jumbled thoughts without filters or proper construction in my trusty written journal meant for my reading only) I guess the difference lies in the sense of community and sharing that comes with putting your writing out there. Fangirling doesn’t feel as fun when done alone ne? Continue reading

new pairing to fangirl!

4 Apr

I’m so addicted to Leh Ratree (2015) that I’m watching new episodes without subs to alskdjfaslkjdf over the 2 adorable couples. Sake (Sean)/Kate (Esther) makes flowers pop out of my ears with how sweet they are but it’s Satayu (Jes)/Pa (Gypsy) that I’m more invested in. I’ve not seen Jes or Gypsy in the lakorns I’ve watched so far and since I have to wait a whole week for new episodes, I started poking around the internet to learn more about them/their lakorns… and lo and behold, found out that they paired up in ‘Jao Payu’ last year. A few random clips and MVs later, I gathered that his character is from a well-to-do family, whereas she works as an escort. They fall in love… aaaaand it does not end well. Very angsty and right up my alley. Unfortunately the lakorn doesn’t appear to be subbed but at least there are recaps by Darknesslakorns to help me.

Ab Ruk Online ep8 -15

Since my last rant on Ann’s character Saya in Ab Ruk Online, the tables were turned in the later half of the lakorn when Pidprao assumed the identity of Ab Ruk and ‘came out’ to Non. She became the one living the lie and of course that doesn’t end well … though this being a lakorn things still fall into place ultimately when Saya and Pranon both realise who they really love.

While browsing the ARO thread on baidu forum, I came across a comment from fan of Kim’s (presumably) complaining about the scriptwriter ‘blackening’ (slang for causing someone to be disliked) Kim by making Pidprao do something as despicable as lying her way into a relationship with Pranon. I was like whut??? If anything, that makes the story and her character more interesting and realistic for me. The ladies of this world isn’t divided into sweet dumb n’eks and evil psycho n’rais; we all fall somewhere in between (though some may veer towards the more extreme end of either spectrum? heeh). I find the later half of the lakorn a great mirror to the first act when Pridprao ended up doing the very things she accused Saya of. It really drove home the point that sometimes we desire someone/something so much that it blinds us to everything else and we end up doing things against our better judgement or even the values that we hold dear. So yes, I liked how Ab Ruk Online gave us something different from the usual neatly compartmentalized type of characters I’m used to seeing in lakorns.

the heart wants what it wants – Ab Ruk Online ep 1-7

Yes, I’m finally back watching lakorns! I’d been watching ‘Ab Ruk Online’ and I had wanted to compose a nice, well thought out half-time review to kick start this blog again but well, sometimes blogging is about that rush of thought when it hits you. I started watching ARO for Ann obviously and was looking forward to her chemistry with Peter. I wasn’t so big on Mark/Kim though, since no one in the younger batch really interests me and indeed I wanted to smack Pidpraw (Kim) in place with a big office file in the first episode. Since then however, it has been Saya (Ann) that has been difficult to watch with her growing infatuation of Pranon (Mark) and the lies after lies after lies that she tells to keep up her pretense in the office. Pidpraw does have a thing or two to learn about manners, humility and teamwork but with her, everything is out in the open (well, almost everything). She says it like it is (or at least how she sees it) and as tactless and offensive it may be, the arrow comes straight at you and you can certainly shoot one back while fuming.  Continue reading

Forget you

Hello to my readers old and new, thanks for still dropping by occasionally though I have not updated in such a long time. I won’t call my current state a ‘drama slump’ because that’s when I want to watching something but nothing catches my attention. For the past couple of months I simply couldn’t summon the interest in drama watching, instead I spend my time writing endlessly in my private journal trying to write and reason my way out of a RL conundrum. Things are still a bit iffy in RL but I’m getting more of a grip emotionally (I think) and it’s time to get some enjoyment out of drama watching once again. 🙂

I started on ‘Spinsters Vs Casanovas’ a couple of weeks back and it was fab~~~ It had me laughing and crying in the first 2 episodes but somehow I got distracted and decided to pick up ‘Ya Leum Chan’ again. I had been skimming through P’Fia and Darknesslakorns recaps on it and I had a rough idea how the story played out and boy was I glad I dropped it at the beginning of ep4 when Khem started going down the loony slope. Though I didn’t care for the main couple, I really liked Eua and Gaenlong and thought why not zip through YLC for their parts since they get a happy ending? So I started watching from ep8 and continued through to the last episode before giving up at the finishing line again because I really couldn’t be bothered with watching Khem get his happily ever after. My feelings towards the story/4 main characters remained the same as my first impression of this lakorn. Continue reading

[Impression] Ya Leum Chan ep 1 – 3

The long anticipated partnership of Tik and Ann has pulled me back into drama watching with Ya Leum Chan. Tik is one of the big stars in Thai ent but the only lakorn of his I’ve watched (or rather attempted to) was ‘Wanida’. I lasted 45min maybe? The cast and costumes were so pretty but it all felt too artificial to me, like something out of a magazine shot rather than a story I could connect to. Not much of an impression of Tik there but surely he has his merits to reach his current status in show biz so I was happy to hear of the Tik/Ann pairing. The thing that made me go hmmmmmm was the storyline. It wasn’t really my kinda thing ya know but the BTS that came out made me hopeful that this power pairing could make it work. Continue reading
