About

blobofcolour?

Inspired by hyde’s song ‘A Drop of Colour’, I named this space blobofcolour as the fictional world of books, mangas, dramas, movies brings colour to my life. My fandom blog started as a place to house my fanfiction but it has evolved into an extension of my written journal where I pen down my entertainment related thoughts. Yep, people dear-diary their angsty lives but it’s an outlet for my inner fangirl.

what’s here?

These days I blog mostly on lakorns and the occasional Jdrama but don’t be surprise to see random posts on other Asian dramas!

lakorn what?

Lakorn refers to Thai drama, not as ubiquitous as say Korean/Japanese/HK dramas but its popularity has increased a lot over the past few years and quite a number are available online with English and/or Chinese subs. I got into lakorns about 3+ years back and to be honest the plots can get terribly clichéd ala the Chinese romance novels I read growing up (probably ‘cos many lakorns are based on romance novels) but the shooting styles, daras (stars) etc was something refreshing for me after years with other Asian dramas.

missing links/videos?

I just moved to wordpress from livejournal so my old entries were all imported from lj and most embedded media were lost in the move. I cleaned up quite a few entries but I’m sure I missed out some so let me know if anything is not working/missing.

where else do you hang out?

Find me on tumblr or twitter!

Drop me a comment if you have any questions! =)

I am partnered with a translator and a web development firm that is working on building a site where we can all enjoy thai lakorns with eng subs. I was wondering if you can give me advice on this project. Please hit me up by email. Thanks! 🙂

Hi there, it’s cool that you’re starting on this project. Always good to have more avenues where people can access lakorns! As for advice… I don’t actually have any experience with subbing so I’m not sure what kind of advice you’re looking for. Perhaps you can check with the team at Jasmin lakorns (http://lakornsworld2.blogspot.sg/) which currently uploads a large number of lakorns with subs for downloads.

Hi! Thanks for replying me as quick as possible! That’s ok if you don’t have experience! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and links with the fan community. It takes time to do so. I did email Jasmine Lakorns and waiting for their reply. Thanks for letting me know about them. So what do you like about thai dramas? Do you feel like more and more people are noticing them? I ask because Korean dramas are the most popular.

Hi! I haven’t heard from you in awhile. Hope everything is going well with you. I just wanted to let you know that we are in a process of building a streaming site that’s free for everyone so people can watch drramas with eng subs. I’ve been exchanging emails with jasmine lakorns and she is helping with spreading the word of our new research campaign at http://www.requestenglishsubtitles.com. Come check it out whenever you get the chance. Ultimately, our goal is to create a streaming site catered to the thai drama fans so that way we don’t have to keep looking around for links.

Thanks for reading and hope to hear from you soon!

      Hi Christy,
It’s really cool that you’re setting this streaming site! I’m sure all lakorn fans out there will appreciate it. I’ll give it a boost on my lakorn links page. 🙂
I’m watching the most recent remake of Leh Ratree and enjoying it but not quite feeling the motivation to blog about it yet. Are you following any airing lakorns?
